Tell us a little bit about yourself?
I’m an American photographer based in London. I used to live in Helsinki, Finland for a few years before moving to the UK. I do a lot of my work in London and Helsinki and a few other places I manage to venture around to through the year. The main focus my work is on commercial fashion & beauty. But I love other genres as well and try to make time for a few personal projects throughout the year. I also love analogue photography and shoot a lot of my work on film, including Polaroids. My editorial work will typically have a mix of digital and analogue, including the occasional Polaroid.
How did you discover photography?
We had a large art program in my high school, including a darkroom, so I spent 3 years studying photography along with graphic design.
What does photography mean to you?
It’s an important creative outlet and way to inject beauty and positivity into the world.
What inspires you?
I truly love the creative process – from conceiving an idea, planning everything and then working with a team to bring it all together. Nearly everyone I encounter and engage with for a shoot gives something of themselves and I find that inspiring and feel a sense of responsibility to make the most of what they give me.
A photographer you particularly admire?
I admire quite a few, Paolo Roversi, Steven Meisel, Josef Koudelka… If I have to pick just one then Peter Lindbergh – I really love the natural beauty he captures and his passion for the variety of what beauty can be.
